How to search and order a book, journal, thesis
How to search?
Step 1: https://biblioteka.lazarski.pl/Opac5
Step 2: In the upper right corner, click on the man icon and log in using the email address and password you provided when activating your Library account
Step 3: Select Home page in the upper left corner
Step 4: Enter the search phrase you are looking for, such as author name, title, keyword
Step 5: Select what you want to search by: author, title, subject, etc.
Step 6: You can narrow your search to the type of document you want, e.g. book, year of publication, language, publisher, etc.
The search results in a list of bibliographic descriptions. Next to each description there is information about whether it is available.
How to order?
To order or reserve an item, you need to click on the Lend button next to the description for any item.
A window will appear with information on how many copies we have available to order.
If all copies are borrowed, you can reserve the book in question, which means that after someone returns the book it will be automatically ordered by the system.
Further, you need to wait for an e-mail confirmation that the item has been prepared and pick it up at the Library within 48 hours.
Operations related to borrowing (information about the date of return or the possibility of renewal) - only after logging in!
You log in to your account using your login, which is the e-mail address you entered in the dean's office system, and the password that was set during the activation of your library account.

How to renew books remotely?
Remote rollover is possible 7 days before the return date and is active until the return date of the borrowed item. Books can be renewed 2 times (all renewals count, not just those done on your own). The extension is for the same period for which the item was borrowed, in the case of books from the Lending Library it will be a month. The extension is done after logging into your account in the library catalog.
Go to the Lending tab, under the description of the book appears a link: PROLONG
- If the operation goes correctly, a message appears: ROLLOVER EXECUTED CORRECTLY.
- RETURN DATE EXTENDED BY DAYS:
A given book can be rolled over only 2 times. When this limit is exhausted, the system will display the message: ROLLOVER IMPOSSIBLE. - LIMIT OF EXTENSIONS FOR LOAN HAS BEEN EXHAUSTED.
We cannot renew a book for which another reader is waiting. Message: ROLLOVER IMPOSSIBLE. BOOK RESERVED. - The book can be rolled over only 7 days before its return date. If you try to prolong earlier, the system will display a message: PROLONGATION IMPOSSIBLE. TOO EARLY TO RENEW.
- We can't prolong books if we have a held book on our account or an unpaid holding fee. Message: ROLLOVER IMPOSSIBLE. YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING OVERDUE AMOUNT. ROLLOVER IMPOSSIBLE. YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE DUE.

Medical journals at Lazarski
The primary source of scientific medical literature is the PubMed database(http://pubmed.gov; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/), created by the National Institutes of Health (USA). It includes the PubMed Central (PMC) online archive (repository) of biomedical journal articles, providing more than 4 million articles in full-text form; in addition, the search engine searches commercial servers with medical literature. Search results can be sorted by various criteria (sort by). Selecting a particular article, we can see its detailed bibliographic data and abstract (summary). We also look for a link redirecting to the publisher's site (full text links). If the article we have selected is published by a publisher whose journals our university otherwise has access to (such as the SpringerLink service due to the fact that we are beneficiaries of a national license), we can immediately view the entire article for ourselves in html and pdf formats.
When browsing PubMed, it is worth activating the Free full text option in the refinements (filters) column on the left side of the screen. As search results, we will then get only full-text articles with the Free PMC article or Free article annotation. The latter come from outside the PMC repository - usually they have been posted on the pages of journals published according to the principle of Open Access, that is, providing full texts on the Internet, free of charge for all users. Most of them contain valuable material, appreciated in international bibliographies.
Similarly, for example, in the SCOPUS bibliography, we can select Sources (i.e., sources of articles, i.e., journal titles), and then the discipline - e.g., medicine. We get 37448 results. However, if we additionally activate the Display only Open Access journals button, the results remain 1322. In addition, we can rank the obtained results - not only alphabetically, but also according to the indicators included in the SCOPUS bibliography. For example, by entering CiteScore as a ranking criterion, we get a list of journals ranked according to the average number of citations received by each article published in the journal. We click on the title of the selected journal. The View all the documents option opens the possibility to view the articles. By selecting View at the publisher, we get a redirect to the full text. In the case of journals not published as Open Access, however, we get the full text only if the journal is available to us as a result of a license (national, consortium or institute) held by the Library.
