This academic publication is the result of collaboration between the Warsaw Bar Council and Lazarski University in Warsaw. The project was initiated by Prof. Małgorzata Sieradzka and WBC Dean Dr. Katarzyna Gajowniczek-Pruszyńska, with the aim of fostering cooperation and academic exchange. The monograph’s authors include doctoral students at Lazarski University, who are conducting their dissertations under Prof. Sieradzka’s supervision, as well as outstanding trainee attorneys participating in the TUTOR program in business law.

Start-ups, understood as innovative business ventures aimed at bringing new products or services to market, play a crucial role in economic development. Despite their relatively short lifespan and the high business risks they entail, they are vital to a modern economy driven by continuous innovation and technological advancements. The operation of start-ups also raises unique legal challenges, particularly in contract law, which require a specialized approach.

This monograph provides an in-depth analysis of selected issues related to investment agreements in start-ups. The chapters highlight the significance and complexity of these agreements. The authors not only examine their key elements but also offer insights into the practical application of clauses designed to protect the interests of the contracting parties.
