On December, 3rd at Lazarski Universty we had an open, Oxford style debate on the topic of facial recognition technology. Two teams were invited to debate the issue. Each side presented arguments for and against the motion. We tried to evaluate whether the technology (neither good or bad by itself) will be a force for good and stimulate progress, making our work more productive, and our life easier and pleasant or it will turn out to be a slippery slope leading into total surveillance society, where everybody will be subject to face check and no one will be allowed any privacy.
As every year, we invite all students and employees of our university to join in helping those who need it most, as part of the Noble Package campaign.
The collection of gifts at the university will last until December 6.
On 15 November 2019, we celebrated St. Catherine’s and St. Andrews Days at Lazarski University.
It is in the centre of Eurasia, almost completely covered by mountains the height of which and variety make you feel giddy of excitement. On 5 December, the students from Tajikistan and the Foreign Language Centre will take you to this extraordinary place where taking care of guests is more important than religion. You will get to know the most interesting traditions, see the most beautiful sights and try the best dishes.
We will investigate the facial recognition technology in the 21st century. We will try to answer a question: is it a positive technological development for brighter future or a path towards a total surveillance society?
