Should compulsory military service be restored for all citizens, men and women?

There has been a war going on just over the borders of our country for over two years. Is this a local military conflict or a global one? Can we feel safe as a member of NATO? Should we perhaps assume that our country is potentially at risk? Do we know what to do if for some reason our country were drawn into this war? Are we informed how to protect ourselves in the event of an attack on our country? Do we know whose instructions to listen to and where to go to get help? Do we know the civil defense structures? Can we recognize the signals and scale of the threat? Can we defend ourselves against a potential invasion? If you know the answers to the above questions, you are probably in the minority.

We are living in troubled times; the security of our country is at stake. Thomas Jefferson, one of the authors of the United States Declaration of Independence, the third president of the United States (1801–1809), said that "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." Should we be inspired by these words? Is it time to restore compulsory military service for all citizens, men and women?
