Judge Katarzyna Gonera, lecturer at Lazarski University, judge of the Supreme Court, passed away on December 15

At our university, she conducted classes for students, judicial trainees, and, in recent years, lectures on the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court for doctoral seminarians. Her whole life was the court, where she worked for 36 years.

As a judge, she not only mastered the methodological skills, but also demonstrated the extraordinary skill of interpreting legal provisions in her judgments. She devoted herself completely to lawsuits, the fate of an individual was very important to her. She attached great importance to the justification of court decisions and to convincing the party that lost the dispute. Her excellent writing skills and extensive knowledge are also confirmed by her scientific studies, among others: comments on the Labor Code, the law on the organization of common courts, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Act on Court Costs and procedural issues, very useful for practitioners and legal theorists. 
The culmination of her professional path was a well-deserved promotion to the position of judge of the Supreme Court. From January 4, 2000 she took up the position of Chairwoman of the Chamber of Labor and Social Insurance of the Supreme Court. Member of the Association of Polish Judges "Iustitia", on its management board in the period 1992-2009. In 2010-2014, she sat on the National Council of the Judiciary. She participated in the work of the Team of Experts at the Association of Family Judges Pro Familia. Co-founder of the Association of Judges.
