The project entitled “Airspace Administration of the FUTURE - education through simulation and practice for the economy of the future” is implemented under the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. #EUFunds #EuropeanFunds.
The fifth meeting of the Council on the NCBiR (the National Centre for Research and Development) project “Airspace Administration of the FUTURE”, held on October 9 this year, was a key moment in which, under the leadership of the Council's Coordinator, Prof. Anna Konert, the Recommendations of the Council of Business Practitioners and Didacticians “Packages of changes recommended for introduction into the syllabuses of general, directional and specialisation subjects in the Air Traffic Administration field of study” were approved.
As part of the project, students of the Air Traffic Administration specialisation will have the opportunity to improve their digital competencies through practical trainings in the use of state-of-the-art tools applied in air traffic management. Among them, the Air Traffic Control Simulator, the Airport Ground Handling Simulator, and the Integrated Simulation Module. The opportunity to use these types of digital tools as part of the course of studies is something absolutely unique, as simulators are used at the practical training stage in training centers for controllers or airport operations staff.
New possibilities for students
The project will also enable participation in additional free training courses using innovative digital educational tools closely related to drone traffic. Among other things, it is planned to purchase a virtual drone flight simulator (using VR technology), as well as software to facilitate understanding of unmanned aircraft traffic administration.
The Air Traffic Administration specialty programme has been arranged to provide students with a holistic view of the air transportation system. The interrelationships between different types and aspects of aviation activities, regulatory, institutional or technological considerations, as well as practical aspects of the aviation industry's operation are among the pillars of the specialty curriculum.
Specialisation's programme
Thanks to the work of the Council, the Air Traffic Administration specialisation will become even more innovative and attractive to those who link their future with civil aviation. Students will have the opportunity to explore aviation business management, understand how regulations affect air traffic safety, and practice their skills on airport and air traffic control tower simulators. Moreover, the programme takes into account the impact of digital and green transformation on the aviation sector in Europe, making it an ideal choice for the future.
